We’ve moved!

Yay!  The move is over!  Well at least our stuff is at the new house.  Not that it’s all put away or anything, but we’re getting there.  I took nine days off work and tomorrow’s the last one.  I seriously thought that we’d be all in order by then, I mean nine days seems like a lot!  Nope.  Not even close.  I can find my clothes and take a shower, so I guess all is well.  But really, I’ll be so much happier when there aren’t piles of boxes in the corners and stuff lying around because it has no ‘home’ yet.  Oh, and blinds!!  Blinds would rock!  It’s hard to feel at home when all your windows are exposed and your neighbors are ten feet away.  Trust me on this.  Part of the reason we’re so slow on the setting up is I got slammed with a major cold.  Everyone’s been sick and this week my number was up.  Today was a bit better though, so I’m hopeful.  My mom came up for the first few days in the new house, which totally helped because she cooked and shopped while we opened boxes.  Without her sanity and quietly working in the background, we would have starved for sure!

A few thoughts on the new house:  it’s not home.  I was so sick of the old neighborhood with it’s abandoned houses and dead lawns.  And we had outgrown the smaller house so piles of things were everywhere.  I really thought that once all our things were in this great new bigger house that everything would be wonderful.  HA!  I totally underestimated the trauma involved in just moving everything over and unpacking!  And now we have no backyard because the home is new.  With dogs, this is an issue.  The old house was so comfy!  We had painted it, planted the backyard ourselves, really made it ours.  Now we’re in this stark white house made for giants where we can’t reach anything, can’t find anything, can’t let the dogs out, can’t get comfy!  It’s not ‘home’!  Maybe it will eventually feel that way.  I mean, I’m sure it will.  Some paint, some pictures.  But damn, I feel homesick inside my own home!  And that, is something I was not expecting…
